BEWARE OF THE PET SOTRE !

Sempat membaca sekilas leafleatnya PETA punya kakak perempuan saya. Dan agak kaget juga denger cerita dari dia. Ini nih ceritanya

The pups in pet store displays are adorable, wriggling balls of energy just waiting to jump into customers' arms. Store owners depend on love at first sight because it prompts people to make an impulsive purchase. But there is a dark side to the story. While pet shops churn out puppies, unwanted dogs in animal shelters go without homes. And most pups sold in stores come from hellholes called "puppy mills", where mother dogs and "studs" spend lonely lives in elevated hutches, producing litter after litter, like so many widgets off an assembly line.

A PETA U.S. undercover investigation in Kansas, U.S., found hundreds of dogs forced to spend their entire lives in small wire cages. The animals had few comforts-nobedding, no protection from searing heat or winter winds, and no regular veterinary care. Crusted, oozing eyes, raging ear infection, mange that turned skin into a mass of red scabs, and abscessed, deformed feet from the unforgiving wire floors-all were ignored or inadequately treated.

Timid dogs were terrorized by their more aggressive cagemates, who often prevented them from eating and drinking. Perhaps most heartbreaking of all were the old mother dogs who had gone mad from confinement and loneliness. These sad dogs circled frantically in their small cages and paced ceaselessly back and forth-their only way of coping with their despair.

These tragic condition are typical of puppy mills. In many countries, there are no laws to protect animals in puppy mills, and in the few places where laws do exist, they are poorly enforced.

Puppy mills will profit and pound puppies will die as long as people buy animals from pet stores. You have the power to help.

suatu hari datang seekor lintah hinggap di sepatu kiri saya,

satu minggu lamanya sepatu kiri tidak menari

hingga akhirnya sepatu kiri mati

sepatu kanan saya berduka lara

tidak mau lagi bernyanyi

sesekali bersenandung lagu kematian

betapa hatiku takkan pilu

satu minggu lamanya ia tidak bernyanyi

hingga suatu pagi, ia putuskan untuk akhiri hidupnya

menikat lehernya dengan tali sepatu

dua sepatuku wafat sudah

dan kini aku berjalan di sini sendiri tanpa sepatu

lirik lagu terunik yang pernah aku tau. aneh, serem, apa ya. baru tau ada lirik kayak gitu. yang bikin penasaran, kok ada yang kepikiran nulis lagu kayak gitu. hebat!
